United Blogging To Stop Abuse

September 24, 2007

Bloggers Unite

BlogCatalog is offering a challenge for bloggers everywhere to unite on September 27, 2007  in an effort to stop abuse.

Stop what sort of abuse you ask?  Post about any sort of abuse you can think of or care to blog about -  Child abuse, animal abuse, substance abuse, elder abuse, human rights abuses, sexual abuse - absolutely any sort of abuse you feel right blogging about.

The goal of this campaign is to have the largest group of bloggers ever involved in a project to help stop abuse and to bring attention to causes and organizations that need help across the world.

Be a part of blogging history.

Get involved in blogging against abuse on September 27th.  To find out more about this challenge - how you can help and what you can do, go to BlogCatalog and get the details.

“Sept. 27. will be the first time in history that social network members will collectively promote a single social awareness issue on hundreds of blogs all over the world on the same day,” said Antony Berkman, president of BlogCatalog.com. “They chose the topic and it’s a call to end abuse.”

Help us speak up for those who might not be able to speak up for themselves.  Be heard today.  This event allows for people to use their creative juices in a myriad of ways to help stop abuse on a variety of topics.

In cooperation with this challenge by BlogCatalog, “Copywrite, Ink. is inviting any blogger who participates in the campaign to submit a link to their Sept. 27 abuse awareness post along with two weeks of measurable results for a contest designed to benefit others while drawing additional recognition to bloggers who do good.”

Find out more about Copywrite, Ink.’s competition including information on submission, entries and the prizes go to the  Blog For Hope Post Competition.  Prizes will be awarded in the form of donations to charities, recognition for bloggers and premium services from BlogCatalog for three months among other things.

This topic is now among the top topics posted at Technorati’s “Where’s the Fire? What’s Hot, and Why”.

Blog for a good cause, you’re needed.

Hey - I’m glad I saw your post. I didn’t know about this. Thanks for putting it out there.

ABOW, I’m glad you saw it too and am happy that my “putting it out there” helps to spread the word. I hope you join in and would love to see a link if indeed you decide to participate. Peace and activism. ~ RS ~

  2. Rich Says:

Thank you so very much for posting about this campaign today. Given that there are so many days we can post about whatever, it makes so much sense to give up a day or two for something worthwhile.

    All my best,
    Rich

Rich, Thank you as well for your contribution to this project. Copywrite, Ink. has certainly gone all out to support this campaign and it’s much appreciated. Any little bit we can do to inform people and maybe prod them into action is so important. Thank you Rich. Peace and worthwhileness. ~ RS ~

  5. Grace Says:

Thanks for the word on this, Ruby :) I hadn’t heard of it. I’m not sure if I’ll be blogging on it or not yet (but if I don’t, it’s not because I’m pro-abuse! lol)

Grace, I believe I understand you and your reasonings and I do appreciate and support your decision(s) and you. I know you’re not pro-abuse!
Peace and grace. ~ RS ~

  6. Grace Says:

P.S. I should mention that I don’t write ‘against’ anything any more. So if I can think of a way to write a “Pro Kindness, Compassion and Care” piece that fits in, I will :)

Grace, Pro-kindness works! Compassion and Care - Pay it forward - all great ways to live. Peace and love, ~ RS ~

  7. Martha Mihaly Says:

Thanks for bringing that to my attention Ruby. I’ll do what I can.

In an unsual bout of self promotion, but in the same positive light, I’d like to invite you and your readers to my site, Respectance, in October to join together with the breast cancer community, to share your stories and to support each other.

Your site is an inspiration to many, as are you Ruby. Keep up the good work.

    M

Martha, Thanks and I do hope you join in. I’ve been thinking of what I want to write about since the topic of abuse is so wide open but I do need to get working on it.
About your self-promotion, I might start another topic here about breast cancer and give it my attention in more than comments here.
Respectance is a special site and I hope that more people become involved there. I’m not sure where you want to go with it but I’m trying to help. Peace and beauty. ~ RS ~

  20. Molly Brogan Says:

As many of my readers know, my first novel, Remember Me, was written to raise awareness about the inability of many family court systems to stop abuse and violence. The results are devastating to families and children across the nation. Today, the social networking organization, Blog Catalog, is asking bloggers to unite to stop abuse of all kinds. I felt that this was the perfect opportunity to honor Remember Me and its original intent, and provide my blog network with information necessary to report or prevent abuse. I invite all comment and encourage everyone to send along this link and strengthen the resolve of this courageous effort. My post can be seen at: http://mollybrogan.blogspot.com

Molly, Welcome. I’ve not read your novel but it sounds very interesting. I’ve had some of my own experiences with domestic violence and been devastated as well so I am well aware of that form of abuse. I’m so glad you came today and thank you for the link to your blog. I’ll be by and check out your blog as soon as I can get re-oriented here and that could take me just a bit of time. Peace and sharing information. ~ RS ~

I am on board…. just finished posting and it is dedicated to this worthy cause.
I took a different angle of course… My site is devoted to the single mom. Come and check “her” out we are a new, up-and-coming site. Yet, I believe that giving a voice to this woman is important. I would love it if you would do some piece on this Everyday hero… I am not looking to any link to my site. i just want her story out there. Stop the abuse and stop overlooking what is before our eyes… A Woman who needs all of Us!

Lacigurl, Welcome. I’m glad you’ve joined the “campaign” about stopping abuse and I look forward to checking out your website. I’m going to need a link though. Single moms and giving them a voice certainly is an important issue and it’s one I might be able to work with. I’d like to read “her” story.
Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment - I look forward to seeing more of you here or there. Peace and voices for all. ~ RS ~

ME, You’re welcome and thank you. I’m going to try and do that myself as well depending on how I am feeling on Blog Action Day. Peace and thanks again. ~ RS ~
